Skidmore Cycles, one of Oldham’s longest established retail businesses, became the first winner of the Oldham Retails Awards Overall Trophy.

 

Owner Nasim Khan, from Clarksfield, took over the business last year.  Since then, he has transformed the Union street premises.

 

Skidmores was shortlisted in two categories—First Impressions and Instore Promotions.

 

 

It won the Instore Presentation sector before being handed the Overall prize, presented by Councillor Ann Wingate, Deputy Mayor of Oldham.

 

Mr Khan, who was previously in the fast-food trade, moved into the business on discovering that the owner, his Union Street neighbour, was looking to retire and described himself as ‘surprised and delighted’ to have been rewarded in these first Oldham awards and which will act as a spur for future improvements to the business.
